Objetivos
General:
The main objective of BIOPRO is to research and obtain new food ingredients from the agri-food industry by-products, through bioconversion processes (based on the cultivation of fungi and insects) and biorefinery (by sequential fractionation of the biomass).
In addition, the possible incorporation of some of the ingredients obtained in new products for human and animal food, will be analyzed.
Specific objectives:
Regarding commercial, environmental and strategic objectives, under BIOPRO’s leadership the consortium will be able to:
- Increase BIOPRO companies’ product portfolio to 24 products.
- Position companies within the market of natural, sustainable and healthy products, with which to face the increasing demand for this type of products while allowing them to expand their market share and differentiate themselves against the competition.
- Revalue by-products obtained from routine operations of different industries.
- Contribute to the circular economy and the bio-economy, through the environmentally sustainable conversion of generated by-products into economically viable products.
